How do i control a smoke or Haze Machine machine through a dimmer rack or lighting control console?

There are 2 possible ways depending on the console and the type of fogger or hazer used:

1) If the console uses DMX as it's control protocol, and your fogger or hazer is DMX compatible, then all you need to do is connect a DMX line to your fogger/hazer, set the address on the hazer to an unused DMX channel, patch that same DMX channel to an unused control channel on your console, and you're all set.

2) If your fogger/hazer isn't DMX compatible, it's a little dicey but you can still do it in some cases. You can do it by plugging the fogger/hazer into a dimmer BUT you MUST be able to set the dimmer's profile to "non-dim". If you can't do that, then don't plug it in as you may damage the dimmer, the fogger/hazer, or both.

PS- Anna makes a good point if you're hooking a non dmx Fog Machine up it won't fire without the remote. But if you're using a a hazer with just an on/Off Switch, it will work as I've described. However, we'll just have to agree to disagree about driving a hazer or fogger with a dimmer. As long as the phasing is correct and the dimmer is truely at full it will work without any damage.
