The more low cost brands, such as Corsair and Kingston, average between $35 and $45, whereas the more well-known brands (SunDisk and Lexar) range from $50 to $60. The 2 GB SD memory cards are around $100 or slightly more.

For those gung ho audio/visual enthusiasts who want to build extensive archives of files, or for those who have many small simple Word doc files, the cheap SD memory card is the best device to use.

I recently bought an Insignia 7.0 digital camera. What kind of memory card do I need to buy for this camera? Are all memory cards the same (as in size)?
& What batteries are the best to use that will last long?

The manual says nothing about batteries or memory cards that is why I am asking here. I contacted Insignia Customer Support but they were of no help.
The camera runs on two AA batteries.

Insignia cameras use SDHC cards (compatible with SD, and the old MMC as well) so you can go up to 16GB, but you'd be better off with a cheaper 2GB SD card, which should save about 500 pictures. Probably not worth going smaller than 2GB these days.

You pay extra for better quality (more tolerance to extreme conditions) and more speed in writing and rewriting, but I've found the cheapos perfectly satisfactory.

This camera uses standard AA batteries, and is reported to work on rechargeables (lower voltage). Get the highest milliamp hours you can afford - they go up to around 2500 these days. These are cheaper than Lithium ion batteries, so you can have several pairs with you at all times, and if you are really stuck you can get AA non-rechargeable alkalines pretty well anywhere.
