If you own a Cuisinart processor and/or a Kitchen Aid mixer ....?

would you take a sec to tell me it you like it / them?
I am considering what to buy, but I prefer lighter machinery.... I keep hoping that the Mini-Prep Cuisinart would do for spice grinding and ice-cube crushing and pie crust, which is all I would use it for ... as for the big mixer, I keep hoping a little hand-held Sunbeam would do .... but after seeing Martha Stewart use her big Kitchen Aid, I am starting to think I should get one.... I like to travel light, but it isn't always the best thing ...Thank You!

I have both the KA Stand Mixer and Food Prcessor, and love them both. The stand mixer weighs a lot, but for making cookie or bread dough, it can't be beat. My wife and sisters made 'MANY' batches of over 8 varieties of Christmas cookies to give to neighbors and friends, and they couldn't have done it without this mixer. We use it frequently in the evenings to whip up a batch of cookies, so it's not just for the marathon baking sessions.

I have a hand mixer, but it just doesn't have the power to handle cookie and bread doughs, and takes a lot of 'elbow grease' to use. I like the idea of just turning on this mixer, adding the ingredients, and letting the mixer do the work.

The food processor is also great. I like how well all the different cutting blades work. It has a mini-bowl and some mini-blades, but I have Never Used them. I don't see the point. We have a dish washer so it's no more trouble to wash the full-size bowl and utensils, as the mini. The shredder blade is fantastic for shredding vegetables. It's great for cabbage and carrots for cole slaw, and also lettuce for tacos, but I've also used it for all kinds of unusual vegetables such as beets or turnips, to put in soups and stews. I have family members who are picky eaters, and I 'sneak' these in the recipe, in a shredded form, and they don't notice them, but I always get compiments on how good it is.

Another use for the food processor, (and I use it for this purpose as much as any other use), is to finely grind ground meat such as hamburger or sausage. I find a lot of ground meats is still ground too course for a lot of uses. I first brown the meat, drain off the grease, and then grind it, (using the 'Pulse' feature), to get a much finer texture. I think it's makes a much better meat sauce for spaghetti or chili, and also if making a cheee dip that calls for ground meat.
