Reputation- If your provider is local do a Better Business Bureau check. If not, a simple Google search will help you turn up any clients or problems your potential vendor has faced.

Portable/ Wireless Internet/ USB internet plug in things?

You know those things that you can put into your USB port on your lap top? And they get you connected to the internet? Sometimes they have little antennas on them. If you ever saw the movie RV with Robin Williams and Jojo. Robin had his lap top and he was in the middle of no where and he put a plug in thingy into the side of his laptop and it was one of those portable wireless internet connection things?

Ya the question is what internet do those things connect to? Does it connect to a Satellite for portable internet connection? I am asking because I might be going to Job Corp in Alaska where I live and a lot of sites are blocked. So if I got one of the Portable plug into your lap top internet things, would it connect to a WORLD wide internet connect that is used all over the world just for those plug in things? I mean how do they work exactly? Because if it is just gonna connect me to the internet connection at the Job Corp campus then I don't want to buy one.

I think you are talking about a Air Card, which is provided by cell phone companies.

Air Cards work the same way as cell phones, they connect to cell towers that then allow you to connect to the internet. This would also bypass the Job Corp network, as you would not be connecting to it.

I would check though on the coverage you will get with different cell phone carriers in Alaska first though.
