Restore DBX Files in Outlook Express

Outlook Express is  truly a great   email  applications, used by millions. If you are using Outlook Express, you have no doubt heard about  DBX files. Microsoft Outlook Express relies on DBX (.dbx)  database files   to store all of your  email and contacts . Whenever Outlook Express opens, it reads the data from the DBX file. DBX files are usually stored within your profile folder,  but they can be manually located elsewhere , or they can go missing. Over time  these files can get quite large and  errors  can occur.

As it is quite easy  for DBX files to get corrupted, you need to be aware of how you organize your Outlook Express email. Corruption can be due to  not compacting the inbox , a virus, errors when the email database is compacting, conflicts with various applications, disk problems, and moving email to different locations/folders. Whatever the case may be, the end result is the same, your email is lost. With proper  usage of Outlook Express,  you will avoid most of the problems , but sometimes it is inevitable.

 How to Maintain  DBX Files

Fast hints  to help you manage your DBX databases and avoid further problems.

  •  Make backups of your DBX files . Keep backups on a separate Hard Drive or computer. If a file does become damaged, it will be simple  to restore.
  •  Compact your inboxes . Ensure that you compact the inbox on a regular basis. Forgetting to do  this is one of the major reasons for DBX trouble.
  • Be careful  when transferring mail to different accounts or computers, so again, keep everything backed up.

If you cannot recover  your email or the DBX file is  corrupt, then we recommend you run the free scan and download of Outlook Express Recovery.  It takes only 3 minutes   to scan your computer  and will repair damaged DBX files as well as recovering lost DBX  files.
